Ghorepani Poonhill Circuit trek



Situated on the foothills of the Annapurna massif, this is one of the most famous treks in the country. The trek starts from Nayapul approximately 1.5 hours drive from Pokhara. This trek might seem a little too much easy for most of adventure seekers, but the experience this trek has to offer is way more thrilling. This is the most ideal trek for those who are bound by time limitations but expect to witness the majestic beauty of nature. Whether it is the river flowing or it is the rumbling sound of the trees you will feel the vibe of being in such a way that you might feel lost in nature.


The lifestyle of the locals is also something you will definitely find interesting as there are people deprived of quality life although satisfied with life and happiness. Another ultimate experience will be climbing the stone steps of Ulleri, as it will be something you will remember probably for the rest of your life. All those Rhododendron trees especially in Spring provide you the view of the colorful forests with white snowcapped peaks as a background.


The highest point of this trek is Poon hill which is one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the country. From here two of the world's eight-thousander peaks namely Dhawalagiri 8167m and Annapurna 8091m can be spectated. Annapurna South 7219m, Fishtail 6991m Hiunchuli 6441 and many other peaks provide a panoramic view of the mountains.




In order to catch the glimpse of the sunrise, from Ghodepani it takes about 1-hour uphill climb to reach the Poonhill. You might not like the climb but once you reach the top all the fatigue will automatically phase out as you will be witnessing one of the most beautiful sunrises of your lifetime. The cold breeze will feel like it's freezing but the warmth of the first rays of the sun will make you want to spend more time on the top.


The trail passes through forests which let you peek at the snow peaks through the trees, along the way small streams of clean water make the trek more interesting climbing down. The settlement Tadapani is also an important part of the trek as it is the last night that you will spend on this trek. Sunsets and sunrises are mostly beautiful from here if not obstructed by the clouds. From here it's all the way down through the forests, on a lucky day one might be able to witness wildlife like the Langur and other small creatures.


After reaching the famous village of Ghandruk you will be able to witness the lifestyle of people which is quite unique. The stone steps, stone houses, and majestic view of the snow mountains make this place famous. From here you can get a vehicle and go back to Pokhara the city of lakes.
